Activating the energy channels with Shiatsu
Shiatsu is a recognized method of complementary therapy which provides valuable therapeutic support in various life circumstances. It is beneficial for acute as well as chronic complaints.
The treatment has many benefits to the body and mind such as strengthen resilience, increase well-being, improve breathing, restore and maintain the body’s energy equilibrium, improve circulation and body functions.
Shiatsu applies pressure to special points or areas on the body in order to maintain physical and mental well-being, treat complaints, or alleviate discomfort.
The therapy is considered holistic because it attempts to treat the whole person instead of a specific symptom. The physical pressure and stretching on the body tissue impacts the fascia and works on the human energy field, setting impulses on the entire body and the energy channels (meridians). This harmonization of the energy has a positive effect on the self-regulatory forces.
Shiatsu does not make any diagnosis and is no replacement for a medical or psychiatric treatment.
After treatment temporary reactions such as fatigue, mood swings or slight muscle ache may occur. It is recommended to rest after a session. The massage can trigger an up-coming cold. In the event of fever or short time after .

More about the treatment
Traditionally Shiatsu is exercised on a futon (a Japanese thick, soft mat on the floor). The treatment is aimed at people of all ages, however, in the event of restricted mobility Shiatsu can also be practised on an adjustable massage table.
More about the duration
The treatment takes usually 60 minutes including preliminary and follow-up conversation. However, please allow approx. 80 minutes for the first session due to the clarification of your concern and of your health condition. By mutual agreement we will determine the goal of treatment and the treatment schedule.
More about the dress code
Shiatsu is applied on the clothed body. I recommend you wear lose and comfortable cloths, ideally made of natural fibre with no zippers, buttons, hood or ornaments.
Jeans, blouses and skirts are not ideal due to restriction of movement.
Since the body gets cool easily, I recommend you to dress warm enough and to bring fresh socks with you.
You can also bring comfortable clothing and change them in the practice.
